About

Hugo Chazot-Ranquet (born 1993 in the French Alps) is a photographer working with analog processes and darkroom printing.

Introduced to photography through darkroom practice at an early age, he developed a strong connection to the material nature of the photographic image. Working with film allows him to explore photography not only as a tool for representation but as a physical medium shaped by light, chemistry and time.

His early work focused on street photography. Through years of travel and observation he documented everyday life and human movement in public space. This body of work, Human Trajectories, explores the unpredictable encounters and subtle connections between people and their environments.

Over time his practice gradually shifted toward a more experimental and conceptual approach. Through ongoing research developed in The Grain Project, he investigates the material structure of the photographic image using grain, contrast and darkroom experimentation as a visual language.

His recent work explores the idea of a subtle fracture within the image. In series such as Beyond the Veil, the human figure appears fragmented or partially concealed, oscillating between presence and abstraction.

Hugo Chazot-Ranquet currently continues his research through analog experimentation, studio photography and darkroom printing.
