About me
Hugo CHAZOT-RANQUET, born in 1993 in the French Alps, has been captivated by the world of photography since his
father showed him the wonders of darkroom printing as a young child. Through using analog photography as his
artistic medium, he creates images with a tangible link to reality whilst enabling him to portray his own
creative ideas of the world. The process of physically manipulating the images serves as a catalyst for his
ingenuity, creating an attachment between the artist and medium; nurturing his artistic exploration.
After moving to New Delhi, India Hugo began documented his surroundings and began a fascination with street
photography. Notably inspired by many masters of the form such as Sebastião Salgado, Elliott Erwitt, René Burri,
Vivian Maier, William Eugene Smith, and Henri Cartier-Bresson. Work from this time, "Human Trajectories," is a
profound exploration of human existence, our relationship with the environment, and the essence of connections.
While street photography remains integral to his artistic world, Hugo's focus has shifted towards created
photographic collections to convey and explore conceptual ideas. These collections rest uniquely in his style
whilst exploring many different subjects. This led to his first project, "Beyond the Veil," which delves into
the concept of tangible reality in photography, challenging our understanding of identity and perception by
exploring how images can both represent and betray the real.
