The language
Hugo Chazot-Ranquet is a photographer. He works the image as matter, through film and the darkroom, where a photograph is not taken but built from light, chemistry and time.
Years of analog practice have produced a language of his own. Grain becomes structure. The figure dissolves into form. Every decision is made by hand, on the paper.
The print is the end of that language, not a copy of the image but the moment it comes into being. The same eye, the same hand, run through everything that follows.
Silver gelatin print.
The process, made visible
Video shows the making. The print is the work.
Commercial
Alongside the fine art practice, Hugo Chazot-Ranquet takes on portrait, fashion and beauty commissions through Studio HCR. Different briefs, the same standards.
